In the picturesque Duinbergen, designers faced the challenge of reviving a compact apartment of only 60 m2. Grain Designoffice conceived a clever layout that not only maximizes the space but also creates a refined and prestigious ambiance.
In this small, warm environment, coziness comes to life. On the left, there's the kitchen where culinary arts converge with a charming dining table. The view from the kitchen extends over the dining table, allowing culinary creations to be shared in an intimate setting. On the right, a large window invites soft rays from outside, creating a seamless connection between the interior space and the warm seating area. To emphasize the seamless integration of both zones, they opted for a unique seat with a kink, like a floating island in the middle of the living room. The traditional coffee table gave way to a built-in wooden platform, a more thoughtful choice for this compact area. The sofa has a beautiful base with a recessed plinth on which the generous volumetric cushions rest. This allows for an impressive volume to be created without it feeling too bulky or crowded. 
Where smart design meets sophisticated aesthetics
The dining table became a sculptural centerpiece with a hand-applied small base resembling a totem. Combined with the natural stone tabletop, it creates the perfect synthesis of energy and solidity. All furniture pieces have bold proportions and strong personalities without competing with each other. The right combination of materials perfectly complements the mood board chosen by the Grain Designoffice. The result is an inspiring space where smart design and refined aesthetics come together. The apartment, an indigo gem on the Belgian North Sea, transformed into a harmonious retreat for the family in Knokke. The kitchen, with its unique marble island and custom shelves, forms the beating heart of this oasis. The use of materials such as the royal purple natural stone block, colored cherry paneling, and deep blue tones, along with the tactile lime finish, contribute to the atmosphere of intimacy and well-being. The strategically placed floor throughout the apartment ensures a seamless transition and durability in this beautiful beach location. 
Despite the variety of activities in this compact space, the overall ambiance exudes a sense of tranquility. Smart placement and thoughtful design ensure the space doesn't appear cluttered. A skillfully chosen rug serves as a seamless transition between the different parts of the room, acting as a unifying element.
