In the heart of Argostoli, the enchanting capital of the island of Kefalonia, stands a subtle masterpiece of architectural design: a three-storey guest house that blends seamlessly into its surrounding environment. With a neoclassical look interwoven with contemporary touches, this guest house offers not only a refuge for travellers, but also a first introduction to the city and its unique island culture.
Set on a corner plot overlooking the picturesque bay of Argostoli, the building houses eight beautifully designed suites. A peaceful communal garden, complete with a refreshing swimming pool, invites guests to relax in the lushly landscaped backyard. Upon entering, visitors are welcomed by a spacious gallery, with the reception desk centrally located, and access to a wellness area downstairs.
The suites, each about 25 m² in size, are spread over the three floors and offer different layouts and perspectives of the city. On the ground floor, two rooms overlook the peaceful garden, while on the first floor, three rooms offer breathtaking views of the city and the sea. The second floor houses standard rooms and maisonettes, each with its own unique charm and views. Bathrooms are central to the rooms and add variety to the accommodation experience. Equipped with spacious sinks, free-standing bathtubs and abundant natural light, they provide a refreshing and luxurious ambience. The guest house exudes a sense of nostalgia through the use of a retro-inspired material palette and décor. Terrazzo mosaic tiles, white marble and travertine stone are combined with solid wood furniture and woven straw surfaces. Fabrics in earth tones with striking patterns and textures add warmth and depth to the spaces. Local artworks and decorative objects add to the authentic atmosphere, with specially made porcelain ceramics by Victoria de Borbon playing a prominent role. Decorated with motifs of indigenous wildflowers, these bold sculptural pieces are a harmonious synthesis between retro aesthetics and contemporary design, reflecting the character of the guest house and the island of Kefalonia as a whole. With a careful balance between traditional charm and modern luxury, this guest house in Argostoli offers an unforgettable experience for any traveller seeking refinement and relaxation amidst Greek splendour.
