Located on Connecticut's Gold Coast, in the charming town of Westport, this home offers an idyllic setting not far from the Long Island Sound. and thorough renovation in 2020 revitalised the spaces, creating a perfect symbiosis between history and modernity. For interior designer Kristin Fine, co-founder of The 1818 Collective, it was an honour to redesign this home for its new owners.
Today, the house stretches over three floors, with a carefully designed floor plan that accommodates modern family life. What was once a home for interior designer Kristin Fine and her family has now been transformed into an oasis for a couple working in travel and finance, along with their two school-aged children and two dogs. The redesign process was unique, as Fine, co-founder of The 1818 Collective, previously lived in this house herself. When the new owners expressed their love for the property, Fine saw the opportunity to unleash her creativity on the spaces she knew so well. She paid great attention to the smallest details, convinced that the new design should reflect the owners' personality and story. The atmosphere of the house is layered and flexible, with a focus on convenience, subtle beauty and optionality. The spaces are carefully curated, harmoniously combining old and new elements. Lighting and flexible furniture pieces ensure that each room can be adapted to different needs, whether it is an intimate family gathering or a lively cocktail party. The 1818 Collective took inspiration from the family and surrounding natural environment when designing the interiors. The result is an earthy palette of colours and textures inspired by the surrounding green gardens and blue waters. Vintage pieces with character and patina bring warmth and character to the spaces, while upholstered furniture pieces provide a sense of luxury and comfort.
Vintage pieces with character and patina that bring warmth and character
With her unique approach and attention to detail, Kristin Fine has created a home that is not only pleasing to the eye, but also a reflection of the lifestyle and personality of its occupants. This is not just any house, but a home where past and present come together in perfect harmony. As the sun sets on Connecticut's Gold Coast, the house radiates a warm glow, a symbol of the love and dedication that have been put into it. It is a place of peace and harmony, where past and present come together in perfect balance. Interior design by Kristin Fine, co-founder of The 1818 Collective
