- Interior
The 420-square-metre house near Kraków is not just an architectural masterpiece, but a carefully designed oasis for a young family, infused with the vision of Oskar Firek Architects. South-facing, bathed in natural light and with panoramic views of the city skyline, this home is a fusion of functionality and cosiness.
Oskar Firek Architects' portfolio is a sophisticated collection of both private and commercial investment projects. What characterises each project is the meticulous attention to detail and emphasis on highlighting the uniqueness of interiors. This is achieved by constantly drawing on passion, perfectionism and integrity in the creative process. Although the firm operates mainly locally, they have successfully entered the international arena, maintaining their commitment to craftsmanship and originality. We'd like to take you through their project called AJM House. Already involved in the concept phase, Oskar Firek Architects' team was given the freedom to optimise spatial planning without demolishing walls, resulting in a harmonious, cohesive structure. The architecture of the house is distinguished by large, open spaces, treated with care so as not to appear too chilly.Clay plaster, wood in two shades and stone serve as the basis, while wooden built-in elements, black steel and glass with different levels of transparency subtly separate the zones. The lounge atmosphere is given depth by a lowered level and a coffered ceiling.Firek emphasises that designing large interiors is not obvious; it requires creating defined spaces. After two years of intensive collaboration with the investors, the project came to completion, with Firek's intuitive approach resulting in a timeless, simple interior that does not overwhelm but invites relaxation.
Sophisticated expression of design, comfort and art
An architectural bookcase, designed by the design firm, is the dominant element in the centre, surrounded by custom-made furniture by local artisans. A heavy dining table and a striking lamp complete the interior, which is divided into living areas downstairs and a night area upstairs. The success of the design lies in the cohesion, rhythms, and use of wood, making the space feel both robust and warm at the same time. Art plays a central role in this masterpiece, with works by Adam Bakalarz, Grzegorz Worpus and sculptures by Paweł Jach blending seamlessly into the space.Characterised by clear forms, functionality, authentic materials and craftsmanship, Firek's signature style does not follow trends but creates a timeless and harmonious work of art. This house is not just a home; it is a sophisticated expression of design, comfort and art that comes together in a carefully created space for family well-being. It is a home in which life is celebrated in every carefully considered square metre.
The essence of his designs goes beyond visual appeal. Again, this project is infused with a deep understanding of the residents and their lifestyles. The designs evolve as a seamless integration of functionality and aesthetics, creating spaces that are not only beautiful to look at, but also practical and thoughtful in their use. Within the dynamic landscape of architecture and design, Oskar Firek Architects remains distinguished by their consistent commitment to timeless elegance, rooted in the foundations of art and craftsmanship.
