When you hear ZILT architects, you automatically think of the sea. The Belgian firm succeeds every time in creating beautiful gems close to beaches all over the world. Casita del Mar', a luxurious house a stone's throw from Malaga, Spain, also shines in its simplicity. We were allowed to take a look.
The ZILT team, which produces strong designs time and again, is known for its high-quality work in which they always want to elevate the quality of life of residents. They do this by offering breathing space: they view the living environment as something diffuse that can be played with. In other words, the designers specialise in drawing indoor spaces outwards. Their love of large windows and natural light contributes to this. To put the sea on a pedestal within their designs, they always engage in close cooperation with their partners, because they understand their vision best. Thanks to that specific ideology, Casita del Mar, or 'the seaside cottage', sparkles on the beach to the south of Spain. When you open the front door, you immediately encounter the soothing patio; an oasis of calm that perfectly reflects what the rest of the house stands for. Once you arrive in the living space, you are greeted by the sea. Like a picturesque painting, the azure colour breathes life into the interior. This salty welcome immediately reflects how good the designers are at blurring boundaries. The connecting terrace enlarges the living space as a continuous lounge, while the hanging chair overlooking palm trees and water promotes a fantastic holiday feeling.

The sleeping area consists of a master bedroom with a bathroom on the one hand and a guest room on the other. The master bedroom has a comfortable double bed where you can virtually wake up under the palm trees. Ample storage space, complete blackout and air conditioning provide the necessary comfort. Like the kitchen, the bathroom was completely finished with Mortex. The guest bedroom has two comfortable beds and offers direct access to the patio with tropical plants. The surprise of the holiday home is revealed when you leave the house through the private garden: a gate at the end offers direct access to the beach. There you can enjoy the lapping waves during a picnic.

ZILT's signature salty character blows through each of their bespoke designs like a sea breeze. The creators of the innovative project developer, Veerle Vervaeke and Jean-Marie Ragolle, share a clear vision; they want to create inspiring, functional spaces that improve the quality of life and bring residents much-needed serenity through a wave of harmony. Sustainable, natural creations where the sea is central, that is what ZILT is all about.
