Located at the foot of a characteristic Gothic and Modernist building in the vibrant heart of Barcelona, this hair salon is a true work of art where organic forms and sinuous lines merge into a harmonious whole. Curly Lab, inspired by the eclectic style and colours of the surrounding building, reflects a deep attachment to natural aesthetics and meticulous craftsmanship.
With a respectful approach to both the building and the interior, they chose to preserve all the exposed brick walls, including the original paintings on the Catalan vault ceiling. This restoration of the Catalan vault and floral motif paintings was invaluable, not only as a source of inspiration for the project, but also in lending historical depth to the renovated space.
The interior design includes an organic and sinuous aesthetic, guided by curved shapes that guide the arrangement of different elements and create different working areas. Continuous microcement surfaces on walls and floors offer a subtle backdrop, while volumes flowing through the space add a contrast of textures and brightness.

Lighting plays a crucial role in creating an atmosphere that is both thoughtful and dramatic. Precisely placed light highlights specific areas such as the restored ceiling and work areas, creating a unique ambience that is rare in traditional hair salons. Even at night, the atmosphere of the space is enhanced by the careful arrangement of lighting elements, further highlighting the beauty of the architectural design.
The project is steeped in a respectful philosophy that embraces the craftsmanship of the past and the present. By using specific chromatic representations on original brick walls and avoiding perfection when restoring the ceilings, the history and character of the space is beautifully honoured. Local artisans played a vital role in executing key elements of the project, enhancing the local connection and authenticity. 
In short, Curly Lab is not only a place to beautify your appearance, but also a space that exudes a deep appreciation for natural beauty, craftsmanship and history. With its organic and sinuous aesthetic, it offers an inspiring experience that stimulates the senses and uplifts the spirit.
