At the WooddesignClaeys workshop, attention forms the foundation of every design. The company, led by Thibault Claeys, operates from a core belief that defines its way of working: the whole is only as strong as the sum of its parts. Or, as Sanford I. Weill once put it: ‘Details create the big picture.’ This philosophy is tangible in every piece of furniture, staircase, or interior element the studio produces.
WooddesignClaeys is a young Belgian company with deep roots. Thibault grew up among wood shavings and workbenches, as the son of a passionate woodworker. The love for the craft was quite literally handed down to him. After a short hiatus, the passing of his father brought him back to the workshop with renewed purpose. He later complemented his technical woodworking knowledge with a bachelor's degree in interior design.
The company specialises in bespoke wooden creations: from characterful staircases to elegant cabinets and floors with carefully selected grain patterns. Each project is developed in close consultation with the client and tailored to the specific context of the space. At WooddesignClaeys, designing also means listening. The client’s wishes are the starting point. The craftsmanship of the workshop ensures their translation into a unique and lasting result.

What sets this studio apart is its consistent commitment to detail. The way a joint is finished, the direction of the wood grain, the precision of a cut… these are rarely stated explicitly, yet they shape how a piece feels, how it ages, how it interacts with its surroundings. WooddesignClaeys deliberately chooses high-quality materials and techniques that elevate, rather than overshadow, the craftsmanship.
Their designs unite tradition and innovation without the need for grand declarations. Rather than chasing aesthetic trends, the studio seeks timelessness: pieces that do not expire, but instead gain character over time. Each completed project echoes the story of a workshop where slowness equals care. WooddesignClaeys embodies an approach to interior design where craft plays an active role, where form is born from insight, and where the final result only makes sense when every detail does too.
