We have written about French design brand Pierre Augustin Rose before. Each time, they manage to combine the past with the present and create fascinating designs. Today, we highlight some of their latest pieces from their Stone Collection.
Pierre Augustin Rose is a contraction of the names of its founders: Pierre Bénard, Augustin Deleuze and Nina Rose. This French brand that creates elegant collections that are a true delight for anyone who loves art and antiques. The studio operates in Paris, France and honours the city of love by showcasing the charm of their pieces in the best possible light. In their gallery on Rue Hérold, you can find this interesting selection of works belonging to their personal collections. In spring 2023, Pierre Augustin Rose unveiled his new collection "Stone Collection" at the Mies van der Rohe pavilion in Barcelona. Designed by the architect himself, this pavilion was built in 1929 to represent Germany at the Barcelona World Fair. This iconic masterpiece of the modernist movement is distinguished by its innovative combination of materials such as marble, steel, glass and travertine. For the three passionate architectural designers, choosing the pavilion was an obvious decision.
Organic curves and contrast of textures and materials describe the collection
Characterised by the use of travertine, the pieces create a subtle dialogue between the different rocks used by Mies van der Rohe. For example, two new versions of the Pietra tables, round and oval, have now been given a distinct travertine tabletop with a unique texture created by irregular hollows and veins.
Another addition to this collection is the creation of marble columns, evoking the art of antiquity, a recurring reference for Pierre Augustin Rose. The Atlas desk, the centrepiece of the "Stone Collection", incorporates elements of the Atlas Mini. The travertine top with organic curves rests gracefully on a solid oak structure, creating a contrast of textures and materials. Through the interplay of materials, this photo shoot embodies a harmonious encounter between Pierre Augustin Rose's timeless aesthetic and the architectural heritage of the former director of the Bauhaus school. Unexpected shapes express a fresh originality that ensures we can only rely on more beautiful inspirations from the gallery in the years to come. Once again, the extensive knowledge and creativity at the French brand managed to amaze us.
