According to Gardeco Objects, every handmade object holds its own value. For over twenty years, the Belgian business has been focusing on tracking down and publishing rare creations of a variety of creatives. The big public can rely on them for special finds and representation of both small scale and more well-known talents. Today, we are showing an interior project where they assisted the designers by guaranteeing the right accents.
Duo Sonja Crevits and Jan Simaey may well be operating from Zedelgem, Belgium, but their network is astoundingly international. In 1999, they made their common ambition in the art and design industry concrete with the start of their business. Throughout the years, diverse names have found representation with them. As art dealers, they are known for their goal to involve people with telling art and objects. A network of galleries, high-end interior stores, the best museum shops, and renowned architects and interior designers are convincing proof of the success of that mission. In their assortment, they put the focus on different materials and the skilled editing methods that artists and artisans exert on them. Therefore, their specialisation in handmade decorative design objects is a trustworthy point of reference for those captivated by contemporary and delicate artisanry.
Here the art and design objects really set the final accents
This time, they proved their services again to one of their fixed partners, called ULIVING. For this project, which is located in China, they were asked to curate a mix from their collections. It concerns a private residence in a modern style. The interior designers were predominantly invested in the idea of each aspect having its own meaning and that there should not be any trace of a rushed atmosphere in the rooms. Here, the rhythm is slow, consistent, and synchronised. By reducing the indoor and outdoor space to a common essence of calm, the project developed into a coherent result. The choice of materials was crucial for this. Warm marble and a simple wood veneer proved to be good choices, as well as the rich colours. Here, the art and design objects truly put the finishing touches. Limited bronze sculptures add hints of luxury. Furthermore, the duo opted for glass works of the Brazilian Regina Medeiros. Each piece really comes into its own in combination with the other interior elements. Even expressionistic pieces are part of their collections as well; pay attention for example to the small, winged sculpture that overlooks the whole from the upper floor. In this collaboration, the design office selected the fitting objects at our partner Gardeco Objects to complete an interior as well as possible. Uniting and spreading handmade pieces is their real specialty and each time, in doing so, they call to the primitive human instinct for artisanry. We are confident that, in the future, there will be many more projects that they take to the next level and fitting emerging talents that will be offered a place in their assortment.
