The interaction with the site was the starting point of this project. The parcel lies on a mountain ridge, next to a dam with a water reservoir behind it. In the 80s, a two-storey sleeping block in the 'San-Ho-Yuan'-style was built here. The courtyard is surrounded by the concave shape of the block. In the middle, you find an old pine tree, serving as the beating heart of the courtyard. Continuation Studio renovated this project in Hangzhou, China, while taking the cultural heritage into account.
To preserve this courtyard structure and the old pines, this design was proposed. Important within the historical context of the site, north of the Jing-Shan Mountain, where the Zen tea ceremony was once set up. This deep historical and cultural atmosphere has been generated in every room.
