- Architecture & development
For almost forty years, MR.P has been operating as a visualisation agency in Melbourne, Australia. Over the years, they have clearly delineated their set of principles and values. With 49 Walsh Street, they provide a successful culmination of their already extensive portfolio. Each time, they ensure a perfect reflection of the architectural DNA of the project in question.
Led by Phil Horton, MR.P creates expressive images for both local and international clients. Recently, they collaborated with MORQ, a celebrated Italian architectural firm that designed a residential complex with multiple apartments. They merged natural light, geometry, and materiality into the core of the concept. By collaborating with the visualisation studio, these aspects were further explored and fine-tuned with renewed precision. For the architects, it is fundamental in any commission that a design does not limit itself by adhering to a specific style or trend. When their work becomes independent of a particular zeitgeist, they know they have achieved something good. Therefore, they are constantly looking for a sophisticated simplicity that has lasting appeal. Subsequently, the specific location was a major influence here. With Melbourne's most historically valuable buildings nearby, the apartment complex has secured a spot in one of the city's most coveted regions. More specifically, it is close to the Royal Botanic Gardens and the Yarra River. The multitude of trees on the facade generate a leafy mood that engages the natural elements nearby and includes them in the whole. For instance, trees and daylight have an intense relationship with each other. With their varied shapes and generous crowns, they are a grateful canvas for falling sunlight. In addition, the project aimed to make a valuable contribution to the site while maintaining the highest standards.
As icing on the cake, the complex includes a penthouse that brings all the trumps together
The ground floor overlooks private courtyard gardens, where the importance of nature is once again underlined. The apartments here have two bedrooms, extensively equipped kitchens and also an outdoor dining and cooking area. Further on up, on the first and second floors, there is room for several units as well. Consistent is the focus on tranquillity and living comfort. Generous living spaces, spatial flexibility and a great attention to natural daylight characterise the interiors, which are also intended to meet the residents' needs for many years to come. As icing on the cake, the complex includes a penthouse that brings all the trumps together. Divided into three extensive zones, it offers space for a private suite, enclosed guest quarters with flexible rooms that you can furnish as you wish, and finally the living and dining areas. An extensive terrace runs all around, allowing you to watch the surroundings from all angles. Discretion is part of everyday life here, as with its own lobby and lift, you will enjoy all the privacy you want. We are confident that living at 49 Walsh Street is a peaceful experience. The combination of the instinctive approach of architecture studio MORQ and the detailed skills of visualisation agency MR.P resulted in a residential project that scores highly across the board. Not only does it introduce quality housing, but it also increases the value of the region. Nothing but convincing aspects!
