Stepping into this London townhouse, history can be found in every corner. Original moldings, tall sash windows, and carved woodwork whisper stories of the building’s past, while every corner features modern elements. The space occupies an entire floor of a mid-18th-century Georgian home in St. James’s historic garden square, designed to feel less like an office and more like a home with personality, warmth, and thoughtful details.
Two Muse Studios, founded in 2020 by Alexa Lameiras and Katelyn Pascavis, is behind this project. Based in Los Angeles, the studio specializes in residential, boutique commercial, and retail interiors. Lameiras and Pascavis bring more than 25 years of combined experience, working previously with renowned design firms, which gives them the expertise to navigate projects of any scale. They create immersive, yet livable interiors by paying careful attention to detail and by blending natural materials with contemporary finishes. The duo believes that design should be poetic, creating spaces that are meant to be experienced, not just seen.
Metallic accents, such as blackened steel and polished chrome, introduce subtle sparkle and contrast without overpowering the historic features
The London project reflects their approach perfectly. Soft earth tones, muted garden-inspired hues, and occasional flashes of red, drawn from the city’s buses and phone booths, shape a calm and lively atmosphere. They combine durable materials like solid oak floors, custom oak millwork, marble countertops, leather seating, and textiles such as alpaca, mohair, and wool that bring warmth and texture. Metallic accents, such as blackened steel and polished chrome, introduce subtle sparkle and contrast without overpowering the historic features.
The layout was treated with equal care. The reception welcomes visitors with a charred-oak and steel desk, a plaid wool sofa, and a leather-topped library table. The lounge spans the front of the building and is divided into seating areas, a conference table, and a custom bar crafted from oak, marble, and brass. The open-plan office houses six hand-carved oak desks with leather tops, private booths, and integrated technology. Bespoke touches extend to the powder room and kitchen, where marble surfaces, oak cabinetry, and hidden paneling align with the main spaces’ warmth.
This project illustrates how history and contemporary life can exist in a space without compromise. Every material, color, and piece of furniture was chosen to make the interior feel welcoming and functional. Two Muse Studios turned a historic Georgian floor into a modern environment.
