High above the rolling hills of Los Angeles, Kotton Residence unfolds as a quiet presence within the landscape. The home approaches minimalism from a considered perspective, using architecture to temper the pace of everyday life. Large expanses of glass frame the mountain silhouettes, turning the view into an ever-changing tableau. Inside, materials such as rammed earth, bleached oak, brushed stainless steel and hand-applied plaster define the atmosphere, while filtered light moves softly across floors and ceilings.
Behind the project is ANYARO, a studio that approaches architecture as a carefully orchestrated spatial experience. In Kotton Residence, this vision translates into a consistent focus on materiality, proportion and the interplay of light. Every detail appears carefully calibrated to create an environment centred on calm. Rather than bold gestures, the studio opts for a reduced formal language, where honest materials and subtle transitions shape the character. The result is a home that reinterprets Californian minimalism through a more contemplative lens.
The central living space forms the starting point of the house. Low, sculptural furniture and rounded wooden elements anchor the room without disrupting the outward views. Niches integrated into the rammed-earth wall are softly illuminated, giving everyday objects an almost museological presence. The space opens towards the landscape, extending beyond the green hills. Everything is designed to support visual tranquillity and to reinforce a sense of continuity between inside and out.

The kitchen follows the same principle of restraint. A monolithic stainless-steel island stands at its centre, flanked by open shelving in earthy tones. As morning light brushes the metal, reflections emerge that subtly echo the surroundings. Circulation spaces receive equal attention: long benches, linen screens and carefully placed floral accents invite brief pauses between the different living zones. Light remains diffuse, creating a gradual transition from one space to the next.
The main bedroom is entirely clad in warm oak, giving it an enveloping quality. Sunlight traces diagonal lines across the panelling, softening the room’s geometry. The adjoining bathroom combines a stone-carved basin with raw plaster and steel-framed glass partitions, resulting in a sculptural expression. Just beyond lies a courtyard with a single flowering tree set against a textured wall, where shadows shift throughout the day. Kotton Residence thus presents a form of luxury grounded in stillness, natural materials and a thoughtful engagement with light.
