Studio 11:11 is an award-winning design studio operating in Australia, New Zealand and the Netherlands. Their multidisciplinary approach to architecture, interior design and object design forms a seamless whole in which each project is part of a larger story. Functionality, simplicity and craftsmanship are the cornerstones of their philosophy, which shine through in every aspect of their work.
At Studio 11:11, functionality is at the heart of every design. Their projects are not only aesthetically pleasing, but above all purposeful and practical. Each object and space is designed with the end user in mind, avoiding trends in favour of timeless practicality. This approach ensures that the designs remain durable and relevant, regardless of changing fashion trends. For Studio 11:11, simplicity is not about minimalism, but about distillation and refinement. The team aims to reveal the essence of each project, removing excess elements to create a sense of calm and clarity. This is achieved through the use of a natural and neutral palette and the application of paired shapes. This creates a serene environment that is both functional and visually appealing. Craftsmanship at Studio 11:11 is characterised by the use of the best materials and collaboration with local artisans. Each project is approached with an eye for sustainability and the natural evolution of materials. The studio appreciates the natural patina created by time, which gives the designs an extra layer of authenticity and character. An example of Studio 11:11's unique approach is the Nareeb House in Melbourne, Australia. Inspired by oriental architecture and the philosophies of Japanese author Junichiro Tanizaki, this project is an ode to the subtlety of light and shadow. Tanizaki's reflections on the mystical quality of shadows formed the basis for the design, resulting in a house that exudes depth and intrigue.

The Nareeb House was guided by the dichotomy of light and shadow. Due to the height limitations of the structure, Studio 11:11 designed a central courtyard that brought natural light to the ground and basement floors. Strategically placed light rooms and skylights create a dynamic play of light and shadow, emphasising the spaciousness and grandeur of the house. The central courtyard with Ginkgo Biloba trees floods the living spaces with light and warmth, while the private rooms are bathed in soft, restrained light for a serene atmosphere. The choice of materials for the Nareeb House reflects Studio 11:11's ethos of harmony and tranquillity. A neutral palette complements the vibrant courtyard, while large monolithic stone structures and small-scale cobblestone floors showcase the raw elegance of natural textures. This interplay of materials creates an atmosphere of tranquillity and grace throughout the house. Nareeb House is a model of collaboration between different disciplines. The interior design was carried out by Studio 11:11, with architecture and construction by Agushi Constructions, landscape architecture by Nathan Burkett, and furniture and styling by Simone Haag. Studio 11:11 continues to push the boundaries between architecture, interior design and object design, with projects that are both functional and aesthetic. Their commitment to simplicity and craftsmanship, combined with a deep respect for the natural world, results in designs that not only create spaces, but also tell stories. With a focus on sustainability and a timeless aesthetic, Studio 11:11 remains an inspiration in the design world. Interior Design by Studio 11:11
