In a beautiful new construction project designed by interior designer Laura Calleeuw, a unique combination of architecture and interior design has resulted in a serene and luxurious living environment. In collaboration with CAS ARCHITECTEN from Ghent, Laura has created a living space that brings tranquillity and a holiday feeling to everyday life, a breath of fresh air for the residents. They, as independent entrepreneurs with busy lives and a passion for southern travel, were looking for a place where work completely fades into the background and nature is brought inside.
The new building connects the existing pool house to the newly built home in a special way, a continuum in which the client experiences views and interaction with the outside from every room. Large fenestration and recessed windows create maximum views to the garden, while subtle floor transitions enhance the connection between inside and outside. Nature can be felt at every step, partly through the use of natural materials and craft techniques. In the bathroom, for instance, flagstones are composed of smashed tiles, like a puzzle of simplicity that extends outside and evokes a warm, timeless atmosphere. As if the floor has always been there, inviting and familiar. In the home, both materials and design have an organic, flowing quality. No sharp corners or distorting contrasts, instead curved lines form an airy and casual whole that exudes tranquillity. The interior design embraces calm greige and beige tones, letting textures rather than colours speak for themselves. This creates a softness that can be felt both visually and tangibly, perfectly suited to the residents' laid-back lifestyle. Laura Calleeuw has put her client's habits hobbies and desires at the centre. For example, the bathroom was decorated with an indoor garden that feels like you are showering outside, a sophisticated nod to southern destinations and the freedom that comes with it. The kitchen, strategically placed, offers views of the horse pasture and green landscape, while a cosy breakfast bench in the living room overlooks the garden. Every room in the house offers a window to the outside, blurring the dividing line between inside and outside.

To support the work-life balance, room dividers have been installed between the office and living areas. These panels, with stretched textiles, offer a subtle separation without breaking the connection with the surroundings. In them, Laura finds a unique combination between functionality and aesthetics: the workspace is private yet connected to the home, a place where thoughts can flow without visual distractions.Dark larch wood and subtle bronze accents in the handles add a touch of luxury without being overpowering. The curtains are made of naturally woven, semi-transparent fabric that moves gently with the wind, a subtle detail that emphasises the atmosphere of holiday and relaxation. It is these fine details that make the home truly personal, matching the residents' tastes and lifestyle. Laura's vision goes beyond interior design; she sees each home as an extension of her client's life and experiences. Through her attention to both practicality and aesthetic lines, and her talent for turning complexity into tranquillity and luxury, Laura Calleeuw succeeds in designing a home that feels timeless, harmonious and, above all, personal. What originated as a dream is now reality: a home where tranquillity prevails, where nature and architecture go hand in hand, and where residents can come home to an oasis of serenity every day.
