Lucia Mondadori is a Brazilian-born ceramic artist based in Paris whose sculptural practice explores the poetic tension between rawness and refinement. Her pieces emerge from the meeting point between nature, memory, and form — resulting in objects that seem unearthed rather than made, inviting a quiet sense of presence. Working primarily in high-fired stoneware, the artist shapes contemplative vases, totems, and vessels that appear both grounded and ethereal. Every curve and surface holds the trace of the hand, offering a deeply tactile experience that resists the slick uniformity of industrial design.
Each work begins intuitively through sketching, moodboarding, or simply responding to the clay itself: ‘Each piece modeled by hand teaches us something new, the gestures become a dance. I beat the earth to shape it, but I also caress it.’ Rather than following a fixed idea, the ceramicist allows the forms to evolve in dialogue with the material. Built slowly, her asymmetrical shapes reflect the meditative pace of their creation. Enamels are carefully developed in her Paris studio, featuring surfaces that recall the textures of rocks, earth, and ash. While deeply functional, these pieces often transcend utility to become markers of memory, vessels of emotion, or silent anchors in a space.

Her creative language is shaped by a diverse background in graphic design, literature, and cinema. After working in the visual and publishing industries for more than a decade, she turned to ceramics as a return to slowness, to hands-on creation, and to a younger self who once sculpted clay figures in the corner of a studio. Her work reflects this reconnection with the physical and emotional act of making — each object a quiet record of time, gesture and intent.
Grounded in values of sustainability and emotional authenticity, her practice embraces slow making as a form of care. She works primarily with durable, locally sourced materials, using techniques that honour both the earth and the process. Imperfections are not flaws, but vital characteristics: signs of presence, humanity and honesty.
Her pieces now find homes across Europe and beyond, resonating with those who seek to create interiors that feel personal and quietly expressive. Whether placed as a focal point or blended into a larger composition, Lucia Mondadori’s ceramics invite pause and reflection. They whisper, rather than shout, and in doing so, they leave space for stories to emerge.
