- Interior
Hidden deep in the mountains of the Ukrainian Carpathians lies Vhory, a place where you can completely unwind and recharge. And where better to do so than in the middle of nature? The designers of Vhory House took that task very seriously and created a breathable interior.
The traditional Ukrainian landscape is reflected throughout the house, creating a harmony of numerous earthy textures. Wood, clay, and minimalist use of colour form the foundation of the home to aim for designing uplifting, minimalist and tactile spaces. In addition, the extraordinary beauty of nature enters almost literally through the floor-to-ceiling panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. For the interior, they mainly used rounded, soft shapes that are fully reflected in a unifying dining space. A hand-sculpted pendant lamp adorns above the dining table, both made from a unique compostable mix. The primitive elements are brought out by a custom-made fireplace, which invites company. Thanks to this element and the floor lamp, the interior is embodied with nothing but natural light. The smooth transitions between the different spaces make a strong home; each room creates a coherent whole without losing its functionality.

The kitchen is the room of choice that needs a lot of functionality in addition to aesthetics. The designers, therefore, opted for a row of bar stools in front of the island, which in addition to the necessary design also satisfy practical needs. It is magnificent how the interior fuses all spaces by using the same materials and textures. The living area blends seamlessly into the kitchen, and natural elements are also the basis for the bedrooms. For example, the floor consists of natural wood combined with textured clay walls. In this way, they aim to use the old Ukrainian 'mazanka' as the basis of the design here. Furthermore, the bed seems to float: a deliberate choice to add extra natural light to the bedroom. At Vhory, minimalism is not seen as a limitation, but rather as a liberation. The design opens the door to a space where one can escape the busy everyday chaos. Here you experience the power of a kind of simplicity through which grey blows like a soothing breeze. With an attractive vibrancy, the interior puts a lively design unlike anything else on the map, having made the natural environment an integral part of the result.
