Recently, nōmar architects designed nō. 19, a home that focuses on a beautiful connection with its location. Elegantly situated in a beautiful woodland setting, at the end of a picturesque driveway, this home is an oasis of calm within its surroundings.
The architecture and interior studio approaches their work as an interactive process, where extensive research results in a strong coherent design. In each project, founders Justine Byltiauw and Tim Belaen strive to create visionary and sensory architecture that has a positive impact on the area and its residents. Their projects do not follow a specific style, but prioritise an inclusive and innovative way of thinking. Craftsmanship and a great knowledge of materials make up an important part of their design process. 
The design of this new family residence is all about controlled transparency. nōmar architects were asked to design the living spaces, where the main wish of the residents was to experience a real holiday feeling at home. Very striking is the strong focus on the interaction between inside and outside. Everything in this home works in function of its surroundings. Nature becomes an integral part of the interior, and that is mainly thanks to the many large windows we find in the house. The relatively closed front façade offers enough privacy but is deliberately made very transparent in the dining room to give visitors a vista. The surface on the ground floor was made smaller than the roof volume to introduce a form of humility towards the outdoor space.

The transparent back façade, which was chosen to contrast with the front, offers views of the deep forests. Next to that, they provide enough light in the living areas. The residence’s interior consists of a varied material palette of natural light and dark shades. Beige tones are alternated with dark brown wood. Thanks to these calm colours, the interior brings a form of softness in the sleek architecture of the home. 
This residence is again a successful project from the young architects, and that is the result of a clear vision and an extensive knowledge of the creative process. By bringing the beautiful surroundings inside the house as much as possible, the desired holiday feeling was easily achieved.
