Sometimes there is strength in rejecting modern technologies and returning to the basics. The Biophilic Village is a project with a strong philosophy. A deep commitment to sustainability is the common thread that connects all the factors of this design. Here, you truly enjoy an uninhibited purity like you rarely encounter.
This special place is nestled in the south of Italy: an amazing setting that can only enhance the beauty of architecture and interiors. Designer Gemma Galeno toyed with the idea of coming up with a design strongly connected to natural cycles and elements. That goal goes far beyond the style of the interior, as there is no air conditioning and heating, for example. Instead, it is all about embracing and respecting the elements and the physical conditions they bring. This also means that an automatic filtration system is missing, but the stunning aesthetics make more than up for this, of course. In sync with the intention behind the entire project, the designer chose earthy colours such as browns and greys. Each space feels minimalist in terms of furnishings but is completely accomplished in terms of interpretation. The mind should be able to fully relax within these four walls, and that turns out to be not at all difficult. The right choices allowed the designer to come out with a result that is thoroughly calming.

As the name suggests, this is more than just one house. In Galeno's vision, she wants to build an entire village where there is an overall sense of tranquillity in the streets. Residents experience less pressure to perform and have the space and opportunity to value the important things in life. The Biophilic Village is clearly more than an architectural design; it is an illustration of an overarching idea where natural methods and processes, sustainability, and the rhythms of the planet are in the spotlight. Needless to say, it is nevertheless nice that the design answers a craving for proportion, light, and volume in an inspiring way. In one of the several bedrooms you experience a majestic effect thanks to the skylight. The bathrooms are the perfect place to enjoy a virtuous moment to yourself. Throughout the residence, you can choose from several spots to relax: the choice is vast and the effect blissful.
The Biophilic Village is a project that goes beyond the external. With an approach that focuses on a life marked by natural rhythms, slow days, and a sustainable philosophy, it is emerging as an admirable concept. We hope it will soon see its realisation and, above all, remember the message behind these wondrous walls.
