Our newest partner Justien Lescouhier knows how to bring a form of warm timelessness to any project. She demonstrates this again in this total renovation of a barn into an exclusive recreation room, which, with a rather dark colour palette, calls for tranquillity and intimate moments with loved ones.
For interior designer Justien Lescouhier, a design is only truly successful when the client feels comfortable in it. During an initial meeting, she therefore looks for a personal story. By listening carefully and fully understanding the residents, she creates a customised design that brings intense happiness. After all, the interior designer believes that an interior in which every detail is right is good for your mental well-being. The clients of this property are very busy and social people. When they asked to transform this barn into a multipurpose space, Lescouhier saw it as an interesting challenge to reflect their personal story in the entire concept. The result is an exclusive recreational space where the focus is on relaxation, leisure, and convivial dining with family and friends, and is also the ideal location for festive occasions.
Aubergine is a colour we associate with mystery, spirituality, and luxury and always leaves a certain impression
The large open space was arranged to create cosy, separate areas for dining or aperitifs. However, it could just as easily be decided to move the loose furniture aside, creating a large, open space in which festive occasions can be organised. A central bar was integrated where you can cook, but also where cocktails can be made in abundance and where you can enjoy a cosy coffee moment on Sunday afternoon. There is also enough space for a catering service to do their work.
The rooms feel like a true experience. The interior designer chose a colour and material palette based around the colour aubergine. It is a colour she associates with mystery, spirituality, and luxury and always leaves a certain impression. It is therefore hardly surprising that this shade is the common thread throughout the entire concept, from the natural stone to the painting technique on the walls and the fabric of the sofa. In the shower area, a specific blue colour was used, which has very positive associations and refers to harmony and trust. These rooms were designed for complete relaxation. After all, blue lowers our blood pressure and relaxes us, because we associate it with tranquillity and a confidential environment. This unique concept was given an elegant design and a well-considered use of colour for a versatile result: you can come here to relax for a while, but social gatherings can be organised just as well. The result thus meets the requirements Justien Lescouhier sets for each project: a perfect interplay between the client's living environment, the space, and the design's vision.

To design a residence that perfectly suits the lifestyle of the clients, an interior architect has to understand what the life of the residents looks like. By listening carefully to them, Justien Lescouhier manages to create projects that evoke a visual tranquillity. Materials with a soul play an important role in this.
