- Art & Design
In the bustling streets of New York, where the skyline kisses the sky and the energy of the city can be felt in every corner, you will find Parts and Labor Design. An interior design studio known for its stunning creations in the world of hospitality and hospitality. But behind the scenes of their scintillating projects and vibrant bars, a creative urge was brewing that eventually came to fruition in the form of a furniture spin-off called Known Work.
It all started with Jeremy Levitt, a visionary designer who brought his passion for art and craft to life on the streets of New York. Together with Danu Kennedy, a talented designer with roots in New Zealand, he embarked on a journey of creative discovery. Then, three years later, Alex DiLena joined the team, taking their shared vision to new heights. Known Work was born, a place where ideas could flourish and creativity could flow like an untamable river. Their debut collection, "Perceptions", was welcomed with much anticipation in the design world. It was a collection of nine masterfully designed pieces, each infused with the trio's unique flair.
The collection was a celebration of contrasts, where hard and soft materials coexisted in perfect harmony. Sculptural chairs with wooden backs, elegant lamps made of steel and glass, and ceramic candlesticks that illuminated the heart with their warm glow. Each piece told a story, a story of craftsmanship and imagination. As they delved into the creative process, Levitt, Kennedy and DiLena discovered a deep love for materials and textures. Metal and wood were combined with glass and ceramics, each material carefully chosen to create a unique experience for those who would embrace their pieces.
With their creations, they invite to discover beauty in the diversity of human experiences
But "Perceptions" was more than just a furniture collection; it was a tribute to individuality and perception. As Kennedy so aptly put it, ‘Everyone experiences the world differently. No two perceptions are the same.’ With their creations, they wanted to invite people to look at the world through different lenses, to discover the beauty in the diversity of human experiences. The name reflected this peculiarity perfectly. It was an invitation to explore, discover and appreciate how each of us sees the world in our own unique way. We will keep a close eye on them in advance for undoubtedly more promising pieces!
