Forever vacation in this carefully designed home and immediately feel the atmosphere that is beyond ordinary. From the soothing colour palette to the high ceilings and countless open windows with French doors seamlessly connecting indoor and outdoor spaces, the first tone is set. As you spend more time in this home, you gradually discover playful details and enchanting patterns.
The soul of this house is steeped in their 2018 summer trip, from the romantic streets of Paris to the vibrant atmosphere of Barcelona. A short visit to Porto and a drive to enchanting Lisbon are the basis of all the colours and shapes. In particular, the influence of the Costa Brava, which graces the border between Spain and France, left a lasting mark on our creative process. The playful mix of shades and patterns we discovered in Costa Brava homes translated to this Hollywood home. Think chequered floors, subtle colour accents and intriguing circular motifs manifested in the floors, windows and even in the outdoor shower, where you also catch a glimpse of the majestic Runyon Canyon. But the road to realising this dream home had its own challenges. A project originally estimated at one year stretched to four years. But it was precisely in those challenges that they found opportunities. The need to completely renovate the house provided a blank canvas, giving us the opportunity to start fresh. The house, which dates back to the 1980s, lacked the distinctive details of the old Spanish houses in Los Angeles. With careful attention, they played up those unique, Spanish influences well to blur the line between old and new.
Emphasis on indoor and outdoor living, which embraces and enriches its historical context
Inspiration was plentiful to provide this home with a stunning outcome. Both the home's origins, in the historic Outpost Estates in Hollywood, and the choice of materials and colour palette determined by the desire to connect the home to nature, served as inspiration. The house emphasises indoor and outdoor living that embraces and enriches its historical context. In this way, the house tells more than a story of design and renovation, it tells the story of restoring a home that seemed lost in the 1980s, by simply fusing history, character and a relaxed holiday feeling. Every detail, every choice and every nook and cranny echoes the dedication to preserving architectural heritage and creating a liveable, inviting environment. A home that not only speaks of the present, but also pays homage to the past, where the line between old and new blurs into a harmonious symphony of design and history.
