- Architecture & development
A residential project does not always have to stem from specific client wishes. Sometimes the surroundings capture the imagination of the architects in such a way that they build further on it. Beach House does not shy away from its location. With the vastness of the coast mirrored in the size of the house, you are looking at a concept of stature here.
This is not the first time Balzar Arquitectos has come up with a design that approaches terms like "iconic". Recently, they collaborated with the team from Alhumaidhi Architects. More specifically, they proverbially descended on Bnaider Beach in Kuwait. Do not just say beach to this place, as the turquoise water and white sand catapult the location to the status of one of the most sought-after in the country. Like the sea, the vegetation present acts as a dominant factor in the plan. Nature, water and buildings converge in a respectful balance. Several gardens are provided that vary in size and connect the entrance to the house with the beach. Even before you actually enter the property, you experience a welcome feeling through the sheer vegetation that marks the entrance. In addition, the architects incorporated covered parking spaces, making the residential quality respond to functionality at the same time. Close to the entrance, there are first of all a number of practical rooms, such as a storage space and a laundry area. Next, you arrive at a large courtyard garden, which gives you direct access to the boat ramp and takes you up to the main building.
Nature, water and buildings converge in a respectful balance
In the main areas, the floor plan is tailored to the direct sea views. There is a foyer, a living room, an open kitchen and several suites. All look directly out onto the blue water and create a compelling sense of connection with the surroundings. The size of the windows only enhances this, and in the living room you can enter the beach very easily through a gate. The two wings are intended for additional rooms, including a gym and guest quarters. On the one hand, you have a pleasant dose of independence and privacy here; on the other, there is still a connection to the rest of the house. To add to the list of assets, in the garden you splash around in an infinity pool only a few metres away from the open sea. In terms of colours, the interior shrouds itself in beige and sandy tones from start to finish. This choice has several advantages, not only emphasising the connection with the beach, but also feeding the relaxed mood the architects wanted to create. Beach House more than lives up to its name. Here, the power of nature is given crucial weight, which is clearly reflected by the stunning views generated by the giant windows. Sometimes you have to think big to see your vision come to life; an idea that this shared achievement proves diligently.
