Residence in Hong Kong is a renovation project by Greg Ling Studio for a young couple. The residence was the first house the clients bought together. Through a mutual friend they came into contact with Greg Ling Studio who was more than happy to take on the project.
Greg Ling Studio is a renowned studio in Hong Kong led by the Chinese Greg Ling. He graduated from the London College of Communication, University of Arts and has already carried out projects for renowned brands such as Versace and Karl Lagerfeld. Residence in Hong Kong is a project on a smaller scale but is no less exceptional. The 150 square metre flat has three bedrooms and two bathrooms.
The clients wanted a practical home with plenty of storage space and a welcoming, soothing atmosphere.
The clients wanted a practical home with plenty of storage space and a welcoming, soothing atmosphere. To achieve this, the designers opted for minimal style. The colour palette includes soft, neutral colours combined with an accent colour that varies from room to room. In the living and dining room, for example, the accent colour is dark green. This matches the chocolate brown furniture, the beige walls and the grey-white marble counter. And in the master bedroom, a sleepy blue was chosen as the accent colour. The apartment opens onto a busy street so the designers chose French windows to accentuate the boundary between inside and outside. A second challenge was the low ceiling. Greg Ling Studio decided to keep it as high as possible in the middle of the room by means of a stepped pattern. All the materials in Residence in Hong Kong have been carefully selected on the basis of energy efficiency so the house is also sustainable. Greg Ling Studio managed to transform this flat into a soothing home. The neutral colour palette is calming while the accent colours add a family playfulness.
