This beautiful Apartment O in Stockholm exudes the famous Scandinavian design style of serenity, minimalism and naturalness. Designer Joanna Lavén completely redesigned this Art Nouveau house and created a fantastic result.
Joanna Lavén does everything in her projects, from the planning to the furnishings. Often her clients give her carte blanche and leave everything to her. But in this project, the owner had a great interest and passion for design himself. So, many ideas were discussed and formed together. "At the first meeting I got to know the client, we understood each other quickly and I felt that he had great demands for both form and function. His vision was a home with an international touch adapted for both family life, social interaction and recovery,” says Lavén. In this way, unique design objects would be used that interact with each other and with the palette of colours and materials, but that also highlight beautiful details. The entire apartment was taken care of and changes were also made to the floor plan. The opening to the kitchen was moved and extended to the dining area, a laundry room and storage room were built and Lavén designed a classic kitchen.
She used unique design objects that enter into dialogue with each other and with the colour and material palette, but which also emphasize beautiful details.
Lavén uses a lot of vintage objects in all her projects because she is very interested in the design history but also because she is always looking for unique pieces. Many of the objects that were placed in Apartment O come from auctions and carry a history with them. "The focus for me is to really emphasize the basis, the craft of the object. To listen attentively to time. To bring out the character of the space and the home with lamps that I love, with soft textiles and with carefully selected objects and natural materials," she says. That's exactly what Lavén has done here. She and the customer both love striking and unique statement lamps which is clearly visible in the home.
