In sunny California, United States, Yana Prydalna designed Yucca Valley House. We are definitely familiar with her design style; think of desertlike locations, sober colour palettes and open connections. This time, she confirms all of it again, and therefore we are happy to take you along to this beautiful design. Whether this is your first encounter with the designer or you have already joined us numerously in contemplating her previous creations, this top project can charm anyone.
Prydalna's designs always repel all stress and restlessness, so logically Yucca Valley House does not deviate from this tradition. The open-plan living area includes a huge, robust kitchen island that opens out onto a sofa that seems to have no end. From this space, you have a direct view of the beautiful desert, thanks to windows that reach from the floor to the ceiling. Also striking here is the concrete floor, which provides a sense of casual authenticity and recurs in several places throughout the project. According to Prydalna herself, this was an extremely pleasant design to work on. She was loyal to her neutral colours that she usually uses, but also tried to incorporate interesting contrasts into the result. She did this in terms of texture, among other things. In addition to concrete for the floor, she used rough wood and placed a piece of ceramic here and there, which makes for a balanced decorative contribution.
In the bedrooms, you enter an attractive spectacle of subdued tranquillity.
In the bedrooms, you enter an attractive spectacle of subdued tranquillity. Here we also see some present contrasts, such as the coarser carpet that stands out under the smooth fabric of the bedspread. The low-hanging lamps next to the headboard add a nice variation, while the fans on the ceilings remind us that Prydalna is taking us to the American desert. The project also includes a guest room with twin beds and there are at least three bathrooms. So although you will undoubtedly find peace and quiet here, the house also invites you to spend time with others. In addition, there are large windows in each bedroom that, when you wake up, will immediately offer you a beautiful view of the surroundings. Yana Prydalna does not disappoint in continuing her aesthetic. Her designs are immediately recognisable to those familiar with her vision and together form a coherent universe without missing any innovative aspects. We look forward to the next time she takes us to a great location like this. Want to get enchanted by more impressive projects and inspiring architecture?
