In 2011, Michiel Van Raemdonck graduated from the Henry Van de Velde Instituut in Antwerp, after which he set up his successful business Van Raemdonck Designs in Temse. Together with his team, he offers architectural services that vary from new builds and renovation to interior design. He always searches for harmony and simplicity. Throughout his portfolio, you notice that the architect loves working with pure materials with an interesting texture. By bringing a tactile character to the interior, Michiel Van Raemdonck manages to incorporate vibrancy and imperfection into a space. Moreover, he often chooses for subdued shades and a timeless design, thanks to which a simple but serene unity is created. 
For this renovation project in Sint-Niklaas, the team mainly focused on interior. It involved a typical older building with low ceilings that was divided into several spaces. Through some thoughtful interventions, a unity was created in the residence, which allows the residents to experience an unprecedented form of tranquillity. The existing parts were reinterpreted and purified until only the essence remained. In this way, the studio managed to develop an interior that is not only aesthetically pleasing, but is also comfortable and cosy to live in.
The material use was restricted, and the same matters often recur throughout the whole project. The studio consciously does not follow trends, but in each project searches for the right design at the most appropriate place that perfectly suits the client. Soft colours dominate this interior that radiates warmth from every corner. Next to that, timelessness and serenity are aimed for, by choosing a design that combines simplicity and unity. Thanks to the warm, honest materials and textures and the sophistication in detailing, this is a residence to which you happily return.
