Nature calls, no lures you to Birch Selsdon, the latest opening of the hotel group of the same name. Just 30 minutes from London, you are not far from a metropolis here, but as soon as you enter the 200-acre estate, your world is characterised by rolling hills, green oxygen, and a property dating back to the nineteenth century.
Although Birch Selsdon's history dates back several centuries, today you can count on more facilities there than you might imagine. Interior and architecture studio A-nrd was given the honour of transforming the building's past glory into a compelling design that offers so much more than just a place to sleep. Besides the 181 rooms, including various sizes and types, there are two restaurants, three bars, a spa, and more. Add a cosy lounge area, a fully equipped place to co-work, meeting rooms and event venues, and it takes little extra convincing to make it clear that you've seen few hotels that can match this. Above all, guests here need to get away from the stress they experience in their daily lives. To that end, space was also provided for a reading room and an arcade. Creativity stays overnight here, as there is even a studio for pottery and workshops. Of course, the exceptional outdoor space is equally important. Tennis courts, running and cycling paths, and virtuous greenery offer wonderful opportunities to recharge your batteries surrounded by English nature.
No need to rush, as the time is yours.
No need to rush, as the time is yours. Central to Birch Selsdon is the importance of dwelling on the small and big things in life, as well as the realisation that pleasure and tranquillity can complement each other without fail. Outside expectations do not intrude here, and instead you have the chance to dwell on your personal priorities in life. Besides being a place to reflect, the hotel is meant to be enjoyed in unpretentious comfort. The celebrated Sebastian Cox designed custom-made furniture for the bedrooms, suites, and communal areas. In the former, for example, the bedside tables stand out, crafted from wood sourced from the estate. Contemporary British art adorns the walls, while the best mattresses guarantee an exceptional night's sleep. Thanks to five different types of accommodation at the hotel, couples or singles as well as large family or friend groups can find what they are looking for. As for the gastronomy, you may not be surprised to learn that the many-member team only works with fresh and local products. The menu is therefore a reflection of the season, which of course can only mean good things. Birch Selsdon is a destination where a real community emerges. Here, you taste your stay like a fine wine that you soak up sparingly. A large dose of nature, comfortable rooms, extensive leisure facilities and activities: the assets are not shy about showing themselves. The British countryside has rarely been more attractive.
