- Interior
Roman Plyus, a Russian designer, created an Instagram-worthy interior in a restaurant/bar in Budapest. Strangely enough, the vintage furniture pieces belong in the ultramodern interpretation of the space.
Buha|i|rest Budapest is a bar and restaurant in the heart of the Hungarian capital. Plyus wanted the inside of the building to reflect the brick façade. That is why brick red is the main colour and various terracotta elements have been incorporated into the interior. The copper colours are softened by a light grey marble bar and beige walls. These two colours come together in the polkadot tiles that cover the entire floor.
Buha|i|rest Budapest is more than an Instagram photo
The design aims to be photogenic so that customers are inclined to take Instagram photos. ‘Small Lie’, a sculpture by Kaws, an American artist, is located in a niche next to the staircase. At the base of the sculpture is a placard with the word Instagram to indicate that this is a good photo opportunity. However, Plyus’ interior is more than a nice background for a photo. Intimate seats hidden in the corner and inviting, open chairs alternate in the space. Buha|i|rest Budapest wants to radiate the same accessibility for customers who come for a peaceful coffee as for the partygoers. Plyus combines textures and materials in a skilful, elegant way. Each element has an individual story, yet the space is not perceived as incoherent. credits courtesy Buha|i|rest
