- Interior
This beautiful home in Mexico City was designed for a busy product manager in the tech industry. Interior designer Chloe Mason Gray went for a dynamic, functional and masculine interior in rich colours. The result is an interior that exudes luxury.
Chloe Mason Gray grew up in New York City and now alternates between New York and Mexico City. Her love of Mexican design and culture are also evident in the project we show you today. The house, located in Condesa, was built in an Art Deco style, in line with the other buildings in the area. The owner wanted a home where he could work from home comfortably, but at the same time receive friends and family. The house is situated on a street where large trees provide plenty of shade. Especially on the first floor, Gray cleverly exploited the atmosphere this created. Dark colours like green, blue, brown and black were used to reinforce that atmosphere. Rich materials also create an interior that feels very masculine, according to Gray. For the staircase, for example, navy blue concrete was used. It became Gray's favourite part of the house.
An interior that exudes luxury
For the wooden furniture pieces, either matt black or red cedar was chosen. The latter pairs beautifully with the many shades of green in the home. For the custom-made dining table, Gray used quartzite in which you can find a mix of green, blue and brown. Finally, the floors are made of European oak. Also interestingly, Gray chose both vintage and antique pieces. The biggest challenge she found was that no wall in the home is completely straight, so it was not always easy to find the appropriate place for every piece of furniture and artwork. Gray's interesting choices for this home in Mexico City make this interior an unexpected but also accessible combination with great respect for the Mexican design industry.
