Design is often a way to give life rhythm. This Beijing residence proves that without detours, and with a design that will stay with you for a long time. Here, residents live among a simplicity that possesses its own complexity and guarantees stunning aesthetics. With ingenious light, they enjoy an impressive architectural play.
Interior designer Wang Rui is known for her simplicity that universally captivates. There is no room in her portfolio for contrived, complicated components, but rather for spaces in which life can unfold fully and unforced. The essence of our existence is peace of mind and calm: two qualities that project Xirui Chunqiu concretises. Given that the two clients have a strong affinity with technology, they both stand firmly in the present and prefer to look ahead to the future. In their new home, it was important that they experience an overarching peace at home that allows them to find mental calm despite the proximity to the bustling city. Crucial to achieving that goal was the selection of colours. Indeed, the designer decided to make grey and white the most prominent, as well as wooden furniture in a cosy and inviting darker shade. You can clearly see the latter at the dining table, for example. However, even more striking are the spatial dimensions, as the beautiful height differences in the living space create a powerful effect that is simultaneously soothing. Well-being was another priority that both the clients and the designer had in mind. This meant that there had to be plenty of opportunities for social gatherings on the one hand, and privacy was essential on the other. The two underground floors were fully aligned with the former and together form a single unit. Thanks to the great impression left by the architecture, it is inevitable that you will build many new, fond memories there. What is remarkable is how skilfully Rui knows how to handle sunlight. By infusing every area of the interior with light, she succeeded in evoking a distinct energy. Special attention was also paid to incorporating appropriate works of art. Since the walls are large, white areas, the right paintings come into their own here. Although the residence looks minimal in terms of certain aspects, one experiences effective decoration here that catches the eye at the right time.
For the residents, this Beijing residence is a dream come true. Life between these four walls quietly ripples on, always with a successful balance between relaxation and interaction. We are already looking forward to the next time the designer shapes someone's wishes so accurately.
