We’ve written about Studio HAOS, a unique design studio from Paris, before and now we happily put them in the spotlight again following the extension of their third collection and launch of a new design: the HAOS Sofa. This sofa is characterised by a simple design, quality materials and a serene look.
Studio HAOS was founded by Sophie Gelinet and Cedric Gepner in 2017. In a short period of time, the designers were able to develop a unique style in which they create furniture and lamps. This style falls under traditional French decorative arts while also possessing a timeless element. The designers work mainly with wood, bronze and ceramics and the projects usually combine contemporary elements with a retro touch. All parts of HAOS products are made in France by experienced craftsmen. The furniture is then assembled in the workshop in Paris. Gelinet and Gepner supervise the entire process from the first ideas to the assembled product.
The design resembles a retro foldable beach chair.
We’ve been keeping an eye out for this design studio and one of their most recent designs is once again a very appealing piece: the HAOS Sofa. This design resembles a retro foldable beach chair in which the seat consists of a sturdy piece of textile. The fabric, available in linen or velvet, is attached to the backrest and at the bottom of the seat. The combination of the static wooden structure and the dynamic textile creates a calm balance in the furniture. Studio HAOS strived to design a timeless piece of furniture that combines the roughness of natural materials with refined lines. A mentality like this can only design such beautiful, almost transcendent furniture. On top of that, the design will fit all rooms and interiors as the HAOS Sofa is available as a one-, two- or three-seater.
