Designstudio HD-m2 operates from Kyiv, Ukraïne, and caught our attention with their project that received the name House on the Roof. The result testifies a strong point of view, a tasteful design and a modern philosophy. We at Imagicasa can, in consequence, totally identify with this apartment and the vision that the studio has encapsulated in it.
729 days, that is the period for how long Anastasia Nester and Victoria Kozlova have worked hard since 2020 to transform this idea into reality. The studio already has twelve years of experience within interior design, therefore, this project was not their first challenge. They consider each work as the honorable convergence of the tastes, needs and lifestyle of the client. In the case of House on the Roof, they design namely originated out of the idea of creating your own world inside your home. If the outside world is difficult to change, then we should bring change inside, and leave our mark on society in this way first. In this apartment, they had no less than 342 square metres to do so. The used materials forms a varied selection. That is to say, HD-m2 chose the best kinds of woods and combined them with the strength of steal. Next, they decided to add the textures of clay and concrete. The kitchen is a beautiful example of the extent to which the light wood merge with the greyish concrete. Besides, in here you can pleasantly enjoy a meal at the large kitchen island while you’re connected to the living room. Considering that House on the Roof is logically situated at the top level of the building, the large windows in the living area offer a phenomenal view. Moreover, they installed a large hammock next to the window, together with a low lounge area. The ambiance is created by the electric stove, as well as the decoration out of natural textiles.

There is also a dining room where you can invite many guests and family members for dinner. Here, you also have a high view of the city, including inviting lounge seats to observe the surroundings from. The imposing staircase leads to the upper floor with the bedrooms and bathrooms. What immediately strikes us here is the wall covering. In the master bedroom, you will find rough stone walls that are reminiscent of a cave-like structure, and in the adjoining bathroom, the walls are covered with beige-coloured tiles applied in a scaling pattern. In the remaining bathroom, there is an impressive rain shower and a generous amount of space. To complete the overall experience, you have access to a private roof terrace where you can enjoy the outdoors if you wish. Not only in terms of views, but also in terms of space and furnishings, the apartment aims high. HD-m2 succeeds in giving concrete a cosy warmth by combining it with light textiles and wood. In House on the Roof, on top of that you get exceptional living comfort, together with a modern interior in which you can entertain family and friends to your heart's content.
