Kozyn Hotel is interwoven with Ukrainian folk culture. Not only that: the basic idea was to design a hotel and its interior from an architectural perspective. Although it is still under development, we are already highlighting this interesting creation. Be inspired by a unique design that gives you a respectful yet playful insight into a fascinating culture.
Since 2003, MAKHNO Studio has been behind a growing list of designs that can generally be divided into architecture, design and ceramics. Today, the company has no fewer than 600 finished projects to its name. If you are wondering what the binding factor is in this portfolio, you will not have to wait long. The studio's characteristic feature is the interweaving of Ukrainian traditions with world trends and the Japanese wabi sabi philosophy. Other ideas they reflect on extensively include the power of nature, human talent and the architectural spirit.
For this hotel, they chose a suburb of Kiev as the location. From the outset, their main ambition was to develop a concept where guests could seamlessly combine recreation and meditation. As usual, they made extensive use of materials that come to the fore throughout the history of Ukraine. They chose different types of wood, stones, hay and grass. On the walls, they imitated clay by using plaster, a technique that had been tried and tested by their ancestors.

It is impossible to look past the rather robust character of the rooms, which creates a unique feeling. Although some of the rooms have been given a cosy, darker atmosphere, others welcome the light with open arms. Also note the various bear figures, as they immediately give away that the team did indeed want to make a clear reference to the national fauna and flora. The decorative finishing touch also consists of smaller elements, such as the works in ceramics.
With Kozyn Hotel, MAKHNO Studio is sure to hold Imagicasa's attention. The nationally inspired design does not leave us unmoved. The nature and culture of Ukraine are highlighted in a playful yet sincere manner. Want to get enchanted by more impressive projects and inspiring architecture?
