Today it is time to put one of our partners in the spotlight again: JUMA architects. Previously you have admired Villa C and Townhouse DT, now it is the turn of their own home in Sint-Martens Latem.
HH 47B is a very special project for Mathieu and Julie, the couple behind JUMA architects, because it is their own home. The plot is set back from the street, creating a private area thanks to the lush surrounding greenery.
A long driveway leads you to the residence, where you enter a cosy and welcoming courtyard. The space is bounded by three volumes, which are connected and vary in height. The volumes comprise a double garage with wooden cladding, the architects' office, which has a separate entrance, and the owners' private residence.

The residence has a long and expansive layout. The architect duo has a weakness for elongated and low shapes. The children's bedrooms, for example, are even on the ground floor. The first floor therefore only contains the master bedroom with dressing room and bathroom, which functions as a separate suite. 
Although the orientation of the house is not ideal, that did not stop JUMA architects. They did not see it as a disadvantage, but rather as a challenge. The glass porch between the kitchen and living area creates a kind of in-between garden or patio. In this way, the architect duo and their children can enjoy more varied views, which are not limited to the back garden.
