- Architecture & development
Geometry can knock your socks off, just look at Casa Mateo. There are no two villas like this, because the compelling architecture and exceptional facilities allow you to be fully immersed in the jungle, which literally surrounds the property. Located at one of the highest points of Punta Garrobo in Zihuatanejo, Mexico, this project is a dream home for anyone who loves adventurous places that look like a wonder.
The clients from Zozaya Arquitectos did not beat around the bush: make nature a fixed part of our home. With such proximity of the Mexican wilderness, it is nearly impossible not to, because it is evident that you are touched by the enchantment of this location. Therefore, the team decided to adhere to an architectural style that optimally highlights the liveliness of the surroundings, and so it became a house that makes extensive use of stone and concrete. Concerning the layout, the property contains two primary segments that, together, make for an impressive geometry. They are mainly intended to divide the private areas and the common zones. The first volume houses three bedrooms, with the same number of bathrooms included. A kitchen, dining room, and living area are provided in the second part, as well as the master bedroom that disposes of a direct connection with the infinity pool. The latter is not the only asset in open air, by the way. That is to say, the home is equipped with several terraces, and there is a patio that consists of water, where a few large, flat stones allow you to cross over from one volume to another.
Next to the amazing swimming pool you can relax in a conversation pit
The basis of the material and colour palette is rather grey, although this does not equal somberness and a lack of ambience. The pronounced incorporation of concrete, steel, and stone results in a pleasant combination with the amount of greenery. Moreover, parota wood introduces a clear warmth, because of which the whole develops the right balance. Throughout the interior, tones such as brown, beige, and grey dominate together, and they do so with an enviable luxury atmosphere. The spaces look clean without being uninviting and seamlessly fuse with one another, also in the outdoor area. Next to the amazing swimming pool you can relax in a conversation pit, which is a lowered seating area that offers room for a large company. Obviously, the far-stretched sea sight completes the experience. To be aligned with the nearby beach and the accompanying climate, the architects installed cross ventilation at several places throughout the home. On top of this, the property has green roofs, meaning that they are covered with all sorts of vegetation. The appeal of Casa Mateo does not let you go. Thanks to the several water bodies, the villa honours its beautiful environment. With unmistakable skills, the architects ensured that the amount of concrete and steel beautifully communicates with the warmer character of the wood and the liveliness of nature.
