- Interior
With the children who had left the parental nest, the owner couple went in search of a new home. Slightly smaller, easier to maintain, closer to the city centre and above all with a constant holiday feeling! The location, a penthouse on the Eilandje and with a view on the MAS, was already a good start of this ambitious project. Architect and interior designer Dieter Vander Velpen went one step further: he turned it into an enchanting whole where luxury and conviviality go hand in hand.
At Imagicasa we have been a big fan of Dieter Vander Velpen for some time now. The ‘understated luxury’ that characterises his style also appealed to the owners of this apartment in the heart of Antwerp. The architect was given carte blanche and was able to work out the entire architecture and the interior as a whole. The warm, Mediterranean vibe that prevails - through the combination of travertine and walnut wood - creates a relaxed atmosphere all year round.
The spacious terrace with swimming pool is also made entirely of travertine and enhances the holiday feeling. The penthouse is a beautiful 240 square metres in size and occupies two floors. On the top floor you will find a bright living room with kitchen, a hall, toilet and a combination of office space and home cinema. The floor below consists of a 'sacred' hallway, two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a gym. Throughout the house you will find a lot of unique furniture, but also a lot of (Belgian) works of art by Stan van Steendam, Louise Mertens and Arno Declercq.
Luxury and cosiness go hand in hand
Those who hear 'penthouse', say 'luxury'. This is of course also the case here, especially because of the great choice of materials by Dieter Vander Velpen. In addition to the rich use of natural stone and walnut wood, black steel accents were also used and the office space has a fabric wall covering. The lighting functions as an extra helping hand in creating a stylish whole. MOON Lighting was therefore involved in the project from the very beginning. The result of all this is a warm and cozy atmosphere that provides peace and creates the ideal feeling of being at home.
