- Interior
This Canadian home combines timeless elements with personal details. The interior is a fusion of modern and luxurious elements. The President & Principal Designer of Ali Budd Interiors took up the challenge and created this beautiful home.
The residence is a dream home located in Toronto's Cedarvale neighbourhood. ‘Complete new build, the project was a labour of love, which we designed from top to bottom,’ says Ali Budd. As one of Toronto's most in-demand design studios, Ali Budd Interiors always strives to create subtle interiors that are both luxurious and liveable. In this home, 'wow moments' are in no short supply, Budd tells us. ‘This project illustrates that less can be more, and it really is all about the edit,’ echoes the designer. According to the clients, everything also quickly fell into place during the construction process of the entire project. It was certainly quite a journey, but from the initial concept discussions to selecting the furniture, they put their trust in the design team. After a few briefings, it was immediately clear that they did not want the interior to be too colourful, but that each space should still feel warm and inviting. There was close cooperation so that the clients could best sense the design studio's vision.
This Cedarvale home creates an atmosphere that balances between cosiness and modernism.
In the end result, we see that natural elements were used in a modern way. In addition, contrasting textures were strategically used to make each space more interesting. Ali Budd Interiors ensured the home was as functional as it was beautiful, with ample storage and open space for the couple and their teenage children.
Bespoke designs became the unmistakable elements of the project. The kitchen and family room beautifully showcase the modern take on the house. For example, the kitchen features stone millwork, with a backsplash of Calcatta Vagli and for the worktop, the designer chose the material Laminam. Furthermore, the dining table was given a Corian tabletop and a black lacquered wooden base. The elegant staircase was made to measure as well and we are also taken aback by the curtains in the master bedroom which were made from fabric by the well-known designer Nate Berkus. After a year of working with them as a partner for their dream home, the clients are still happy to have put their trust in Ali Budd Interiors. The family still loves the result every day, the designer assures us. By the way, the client moved in a week before the global pandemic was announced in March 2020 - what better place to be isolated than a brand new home designed just for you?
