A new year, a clean slate. With a fresh calendar under our arms, we asked our partners to look back and look ahead to their projects, and their current situation. Obumex is a kitchen and interior designer with headquarters in Staden, and showrooms in Antwerp, Brussels, Knokke, ... and recently also Paris. With construction sites in Switzerland, New York and Corsica, Obumex is quietly conquering the world. In the midst of this expansion, we were able to ask a number of questions to managing director Geert Ostyn.
What is last year's project you are most proud of, and why?
‘We are proud of many projects. Our stand at Interieur Kortrijk was very much appreciated. It was completely in the flow of subtle luxury. Visitors immediately felt at home in the charming setting of an open kitchen and sitting area with library. We also received a great deal of positive response to the new showroom in Brussels. This Brussels place 'vaut le détour'! The launch of the Glenn Sestig concept kitchen in Paris was a highlight in terms of kitchen design. In the new sales office of the Versluys group in Ostend, we show that Obumex is also successful in the office market. Last but not least, we were also able to add a number of beautiful projects to our portfolio abroad.’ 
What are you looking forward to professionally this year? What are the developments towards the future?
In March, a new signature kitchen will be launched in Obumex Brussels by the Parisian architect duo Gilles et Boissier. In May, in collaboration with Avenue Road – our first official dealer in Canada and New York – we will launch the kitchen designed by Bruno Moinard in New York! In addition, our showroom in Knokke will be twice as big and we will open our Ghent branch at the end of 2017, the largest Obumex showroom ever!’
What would you like to realize within your sector that you have not yet been able to do?
‘We are always on the lookout for new challenges and are fully committed to them when we have a new inspiration. We don't know of any plans that remain in the closet, because undeveloped land is drilled directly.’ 
Who is/are your most important business partner/s? ‘Obumex works for private individuals as well as for interior designers, architects and construction promoters. Both appreciate the total package we offer. Whether it's the total furnishing of a living, working or outdoor space, the design and realization of a timeless kitchen concept or choosing from a stylish collection of furniture, linen, curtains and rugs... Obumex takes care of the complete coordination of your project or renovation. The experience and expertise of our team guarantee complete peace of mind from design to realization.’
What do you wish for yourself and your (potential) clients for the new year, apart from a classic such as 'good health'? ‘We wish them lots of inspiration and new ideas and a good dose of energy and entrepreneurship to realize them.’
