The playful and artful interior of Avian Apartment designed by Alicia Holgar also exudes elegance and luxury. With a mix of special decorative pieces, different textures and colours and beautiful furniture, the designer created a stylish balance.
Interior designer Alicia Holgar founded her own studio in Brisbane, Australia. She specialises in residential and 'boutique' commercial projects in which she creates spaces that resonate as a sanctuary for wellness and well-being. Holgar is already the third generation of architects and designers in her family. She is guided by her holistic approach and intuition. She always finds a perfect balance with a high level of perspicacity as she searches for the limits of interior design. The Avian Apartment that Holgar furnished was given its own identity. The interior looks playful and creative, yet elegant, calm and stylish. The apartment is located in Brisbane and has a beautiful view of the city skyline. For the refurbishing Holgar was inspired by architect Harry Seidler and the home was immersed in a luxurious and light atmosphere through unique pieces of furniture and decoration, art and a fresh colour and materials palette.
'Through pushing boundaries and utilising the element of surprise, the calm palette is enriched by a sculptural sophistication which adds new layers of depth, light and shade.'
Inspired by the architecture, the designer played with curves in the interior. This can clearly be seen in the curved sofa, the 'winding' chair ('Vitra Wiggle Stool' by Matisse), ball-shaped cushions, round lounge and hall table (by Den Holm), the chandelier ('Meshmatics' by Moooi), the carpet, and so on. In every room and every corner you will find a special piece of furniture or decorative element that makes the interior unique. In the dining area, Holgar had a mural made by LA-based artist Jessalyn Brooks called 'The Avians'. Other works of art such as the deep blue circle by Ryan Hoffmann in the living space and the ceramic pieces by A Ceramics and Guide Deleu were also integrated into the interior. Furthermore, we find a mix of custom made and classic pieces by Knoll, Matisse, Studio Italia and Cult Design, among others. ‘The space feels impressive but not in the way you would expect,’ Holgar said in a previous interview with Denizen. ‘Through pushing boundaries and utilising the element of surprise, the calm palette is enriched by a sculptural sophistication which adds new layers of depth, light and shade.’ Avian Apartment became a luxurious, sophisticated home filled with natural light and a creative, artistic and elegant interior.
