La La Land is not just the title of a popular movie. It's also the name of this beautiful, light-filled project designed by Dallas-based interior designer Chad Dorsey. In this light, open-plan home, you'll immediately recognise the ‘relaxed luxury’ he's known for.
Dorsey is best known for his refined interiors that combine a bespoke style with the spirit of modern living. The designer is an architect by training so we always find a fluid link with architecture in his spaces: proportion, light and scale are essential and are perfectly balanced with taste and (life) style. With a sober palette, custom-made furniture, handmade details and a personal touch, Dorsey achieves an aesthetic that he himself describes as 'relaxed luxury'.
A plain, white background leaves room for interesting and colourful details and decorations.
A style that is also evident in his project La La Land, which, as the name suggests, was inspired by LA and given a super sophisticated look. This duplex apartment has a very open plan through which the spaces flow into each other. The palette of mostly white and beige forms a sober backdrop and leaves room for interesting and coloured details, art and decorative pieces. Indeed, Dorsey believes that ‘furniture should be impactful without being overwhelming, and rooms should flow seamlessly together.’ The big windows allow for lots and lots of beautiful light, which is enhanced by the bright, white colour palette.
