Since this year, the Podol district in Kyiv has another residential masterpiece. The Rybalsky, or RYB in short, is a modern residential project by Men Bureau that is aimed at cosmopolitans who want to relax at home in an open space. A calm atmosphere that is minimalist and homely at the same time is what one can expect at RYB.
The residence is divided into two blocks: the private area where the bedrooms and bathroom are located, and the public area where you will find a spacious living room with an open kitchen, an office, and an additional bathroom. One of the most striking advantages of the apartment is the importance of openness, since Men Bureau paid a lot of attention to the interconnection of the rooms. A smart move, because in this way you come home from the urban environment to an open sea of space. Another interesting choice of Men Bureau was to transform three small bathrooms into two larger ones. The central heart of the home is without doubt the living space, which is also multifunctional. 
The subdued environment prioritises natural light and sober design.
Not only the layout of the project, but also the incorporation of natural elements make the RYB apartment a haven in the city. The various views of nearby green courtyards, for example, provide an escape from the urban bustle. Furthermore, a lot of attention went to the presence of natural light, including through the use of glass partition walls. Although the residence comprises 100 square metres, there seems to be no end to the light and space created. 
Praise is also due to the well-thought-out use of materials. The sense of relaxation and tranquillity fostered by the layout of the apartment is enhanced by the balanced palette of birch plywood, microcement, Japanese KitKat tiles and Caribbean Calcite marble. Although the microcement creates rather cool tones, these are balanced flawlessly by the presence of plaster and wood. The overall effect of these materials in turn creates a calm yet solid base for the addition of furniture and lighting. The carefully selected furniture includes both famous pieces, such as the Fritz Hansen dining chairs, as well as custom designed pieces by Men Bureau.
With the RYB apartment Kyiv has gained an impressive residential project. Residents of this urban gem are immersed in a subdued environment that is abundantly bathed in natural light, and that prioritises sober design. The balanced use of various materials results in a beautiful retreat that combines both natural elements and design.
