Designing public space often involves a heavy dose of psychology. By thoroughly considering the impression visitors should have of a building, architects and interior designers find new ways to best equate the function of a property with its appearance. In Neijiang, China, DFE Design designed Future Ark Sales Center; an innovative piece of architecture.
Neijiang is a city of water, or at least to the extent that such a thing is possible. The fact is that the Tuojiang River runs through it, and this project is located right next to it. DFE Design had a clear mission when designing Future Ark Sales Center. On the one hand, the aim was to promote the city's cultural history, and on the other, the design seeks to acknowledge the inhabitants in a special way. The building is situated at the bottom of a slope and welcomes visitors with an impressive lobby before they walk on. It was especially important that a sense of purity be perceptible in the spaces, partly due to the role that emptiness plays in oriental art, just like nature. The latter was clearly recognised inside in the form of decorative plants and trees.
A sense of purity is perceptible in the spaces.
It is striking how smoothly Future Ark Sales Center caresses the eye. With flowing lines and self-evident connections, the design is a pleasure to behold. This is undoubtedly reinforced by the presence of large plains. It is also striking that no fewer than 29 pillars have been placed, which maintain an efficient and flexible connection between them. The flowing rhythm experienced in the design also found its origin in the proximity of the river.
Future Ark Sales Centre was designed with the intention of providing visitors with a peaceful state of mind. With water as a central source of inspiration and loyalty to oriental art, an inspiring design was created that significantly enhances the attractiveness of the public space.
