Sobriety does not have to come without colour and soul. Mirna Emad's Olive residence is proof of that, as it is based on a clearly defined concept and has a design that is sure to impress us.
Minimalism has long since ceased to be the cold, boring style it was originally associated with. On the contrary, colours and well-considered details are chosen with great care and therefore use their maximal potential in a sober environment. Interior designer Mirna Emad is based in Cairo, Egypt, and can confirm this like no other. In her vision, minimalism means using the essentials to create a simple and orderly space. Attention is paid to small details, and attractive decoration and accessories are placed in exactly the right place and provided with the right function. This was the basis of her design for Olive. She sought to design a home where aesthetic elegance and a minimalist style form a lasting relationship.
All materials guarantee a safe home that still has an elegant minimalism about it.
Central to her process was the selection of materials. She opted for oak flooring and combined it with extremely fine textures and carefully chosen fabrics. All these materials flow smoothly through the open floor plan and guarantee a safe haven that still has an elegant minimalism about it. An important aspect that benefits the material is the incidence of light. The presence of windows that cover the entire length of the wall ensures a maximum amount of natural light. This is also a good thing for the neutral colour palette, which is brought to life by the light, without losing the calm nature of the shades. The client for whom she created this design also liked spaces with minimal colour contrast. Emad was also thoughtful in her choice of furniture. The underlying idea was to choose fewer pieces with more impressions, such as the Galapinhos Sofa by Greenapple Studio, for example. In Mirna Emad's Olive residence, you are reminded how cosy minimalism can be. The carefully selected furniture and decoration form a balanced whole where everything has its own function and place.
