With the Vaucluse Residence, Australian studio Nina Maya Interiors created the epitome of elegance. The residence is dressed in a contemporary style with a dusty palette of pastel colours and unique details.
Before Nina Maya transformed the Vaucluse Residence, it was an outdated home in Sydney. Now, the beautiful harbour views are fully exposed, the floor plan has been changed to open the space up. Much larger floor-to-ceiling windows were placed to provide extra natural light and to emphasize the views. "Purity of materials, unexpected elements and custom details characterize our style," says Nina Maya. Those qualities are reflected in this charming residence. Throughout the home, we find a dusty palette of pastel colours, black and grey with marble and brass details here and there. Nina Maya Interiors was given carte blanche in choosing the furniture. Maya chose both contemporary and antique pieces. Some of the rare antique pearls are a brass floor lamp (1977) by Curtis Jere and an Italian crystal 'Barovier & Toso Rostrato' vase. These beautiful pieces add an extra touch of luxury to the master bedroom.

The eye-catcher in the hall is the beautiful brass and crystal chandelier of Cameron Design House, the window also provides a special element here. It was custom designed by Nina Maya Interiors and Stenberg Design and uses smoked glass as a nod to art deco. If we continue our tour downstairs, we'll find two beautiful 'D.154.2' armchairs designed by Gio Ponti for Molteni&Co in the living room. The work of art by Gregory Hodge that hangs above the beautiful 'Gaudi' dining table by Misura with 'Thonet S32' chairs is a nice addition to the colour scheme of the interior.
Many of the pieces of furniture and decoration have round and organic shapes creating a soft atmosphere. Together with the sober colour palette, this creates a charming and elegant end result. Images: © Felix Forest
