Have you always wanted to shop from the comfort of your sofa and at the same time see the product in real life? It is possible at The Manzoni! Tom Dixon's new Milanese restaurant not only serves as a dining place, but also as a furniture showroom and is the designer's European headquarters.
Last year, Tom Dixon moved from West London to the Coal Office in King's Cross. There he established his main offices, together with a restaurant and a showroom. Because it was such a great success there, he wanted to try out the formula at a different location. And what is a better place to do that than in Milan? This week the unique concept officially opened.
Here you can spot and buy the latest interior trends during your dinner.
In addition to very good food, you can spot and buy the latest interior trends. Literally everything is for sale. From table settings, candle holders and glassware to every piece of furniture you see. In that way you can test the black upholstered dining chairs from Fat.
Tom Dixon's interior department, Design Research Studio, took care of the finishing touches to the interior. Metal constructions made it possible to create many small niches and private spaces. The eye-catcher in the whole story is the granite bar. It is made of a roughly carved stone that contrasts with the mint green tiled floor.
Dixon's round Opal lamps, which launched during Milan Design Week this year, hang from the ceiling above the table in a low, looping curve. The interior is very monochrome, as is the new Tom Dixon collection.
The unisex bathrooms are dominated by two large mirrors, punctuated with the Spot Surface Obround lamps from the new collection. In contrast, the central granite wash basin is surrounded by polished brass taps and gargoyles. A must-visit when you're in Milan!
