- Interior
The Well is an exclusive wellness centre in New York. The interior was designed by Rose Ink Workshop, a multidisciplinary company specialising in hospitality interior design under the direction of Liubasha Rose. According to Rose Ink Workshop, a hospitable interior is an interior that stimulates an emotional experience and tells a story.
This wellness centre, which is only accessible to club members, is no ordinary sauna or massage parlour. It is a luxurious health club that uses a holistic approach, combining Western medicine with Eastern practices. The organisation examines every aspect of health such as nutrition, mental health, physical health and spiritual balance.
The Well recognises the impact of interior design on the health of the resident or visitor.
The entire interior of The Well is designed with the 'well-being' of the user in mind. The intention was to create beautiful, happy and slightly dreamy spaces that are inspired by nature and the meaning of 'well' and ‘being well'. There are various facilities such as a fully equipped spa, a private fitness room, meditation rooms and an organic restaurant. All rooms are designed with light colours and natural materials to offer the visitor a soothing experience. Due to the limited colour palette, the interior designers chose to play with textures, shapes and layout instead. Materials used in the project include white washed wood, concrete, Moroccan tiles, sculptural objects and textile covered walls. The Well is the perfect combination between luxury, health and wellness. Founders Rebecca Parekh, Sarrah Hallock and Kane Sarhan wanted to start a club, the first ever, in which all aspects of health are addressed and each member follows a personalised plan. An urban setting for the club was extremely important because the target customers are people who want to forget the daily stresses of a hectic career. The Well is a unique concept that recognises interior design as having an impact on the health of the resident or visitor. This unveils the important task of interior architecture, especially in the healthcare sector. Rose Ink Workshop's design is truly inspiring and will certainly excite many others to work on projects similarly. Photography by Kris Tamburello
