A new year, a clean slate. With a fresh calendar under our arms, we asked our partners to look back and look ahead to their projects, and their current situation. Van Den Weghe from Zulte & Knokke is an international player in high-end applications of natural stone. CEO Tanguy Van Quickenborne sheds light on the recent past, present and future.
What is last year's project of which you are most proud, and why?
“It's hard to say this, but I'll give you a glimpse of what we did in 2016:
- We worked in the Louvre Abu Dhabi in cooperation with Ateliers Jean Nouvel and Meyvaert Glass Engineering.
- We helped to determine the appearance in the penthouse of Luc Tuymans ism Glenn Sestig Architects
- We are also proud to look back on the collaborations with Tim Coppens and Pieter Vermeersch in Florence and Paris respectively.
- Finally, our acquisition of Emaillerie Belge was also a highlight.”What are you looking forward to this year professionally? What are the developments towards the future?
“There are 2 major projects in the pipeline in London and New York. And we are happy to further expand this foreign expansion (projects currently under way in Paris, Geneva and Cannes, etc.). We want to perpetuate this growth and this requires organization. In addition, we are working hard on numerous innovations that we are launching in the marketplace.”Who is/are your most important business partner/s?
“My employees, architects, interior architects, companies like Obumex and Descamps, artists, designers and individuals with a passion for exceptional aesthetics.”
Who is your client base usually?
“Our final customer is usually an internationally active, aesthetically pleasing private individual with a great interest in architecture, art, design and beauty in general.”
What do you wish for yourself and your (potential) customers for the new year, apart from a classic such as 'good health'?
“Lots of beauty on all levels.”
Thanks! We wish you a good year!
