- Interior
In the enchanting setting of the historic city of Ghent, at the foot of the Oude Dokken - the largest urban development in the Artevelde city - a masterpiece is rising called "Kleindokkaai." This project includes three adjacent buildings, consisting of a hotel and two apartment complexes, and embodies an exceptional collaboration between our partner Classo and architect Jeremy Godenir of MOEA architectural designstudio.
The monolithic architecture of Kleindokkaai is a nod to the sturdy port warehouses. Architect Jeremy Godenir of MOEA architectural designstudio cherishes the industrial heritage of the quay and delivers a homogeneous whole with a distinct personality, both on the outside and on the inside. Harmony between architecture, interior and environment is central. Godenir honors the famous architect Le Corbusier by using shades from his color palette. Materials and colors were carefully selected according to Le Corbusier's color system, which is a tribute to this visionary architect.
For each of the three apartments in Kleindokkaai, Classo designed a very personal color palette and mood board, which fully matched the wishes and needs of the residents. Each family received a uniquely designed apartment, including custom-made designer furniture, lighting and accessories, provided by Classo. The individual furniture was carefully selected, a combination of beautiful design classics and contemporary pieces from renowned designers. The Camaleonda sofa by Mario Bellini shines in the first apartment, a design from the 1970s with a characteristic look. The kitchen, as a central meeting place, offers a warm welcome for family and friends, with a whimsical dining table by Bieke Casteleyn and dark wooden Carl Hansen & Son chairs for contrast and comfort.
Contemporary with a touch of classic and inspired by shape and comfort
In the second apartment, the furniture follows the pure design language of cubes and arches/curves that characterize the architecture. The Julep sofa by Tacchini and the Pacha armchair by designer Pierre Paulin fit seamlessly into this harmonious whole. The third family resolutely opted for comfort in the living space. The Standard sofa from Edra, with its extremely soft seating comfort, is the ideal sofa for these residents. Warm colors such as petrol, soft pink, aubergine and camel were chosen in this apartment, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere.
Project Kleindokkaai is a quirky and contemporary family project, a celebration of color and design. The collaboration between Classo and MOEA architectural designstudio has resulted in a dynamic and personal statement. It embodies the harmony between architecture and interior design, and it reflects the deep appreciation for the personal wishes of each family. KDK is not just a place to live; it is a work of art brought to life through a passionate fusion of color, design and vision. Header image: © Cafeine
