The team behind the famous Sant Francesc hotel in Palma, Mallorca now has a second stunning project ready that we don't want to keep from you. Reminiscent of a grand Majorcan summer house, boutique hotel Can Ferrereta is housed in a historic 17th-century mansion in the picturesque coastal village of Santanyí.
The Soldevila-Ferrer family, who also owns the Sant Francesc Hotel, has restored a historic building from the 17th century and transformed it into a beautiful hotel. Can Ferrereta houses 32 rooms and is surrounded by large green gardens. It also houses a Mediterranean restaurant, a poolside restaurant and bar, a beautifully designed spa with hammam, an indoor pool and gym and a quiet library. The hotel is reminiscent of a large summer house, with an abundance of natural light and textures that blur the boundaries between inside and outside.
Texture plays an important role in the design.
This project brought together the latest creative talent from Spain, including Mallorca-based Bastidas Architecture and Spanish design house WIT. Both worked with the Soldevila-Ferrer family to transform the design into a beautiful end result. During the restoration of the main building, the team took history and tradition into account, while the hotel's two new buildings were created in harmony with the original features. Rustic wooden beams and original stone are combined with sleek furniture and contemporary art. The latter forms a common thread throughout the hotel, with a focus on local and Spanish artists. The majority of the 32 rooms are suites with private patios and terraces that enjoy beautiful views of the large gardens. The light fabrics and dark furniture used in the rooms create a sense of simplicity without losing sight of comfort and sophistication. Texture plays an important role in the design. For example, walls are split in rough layers of mortar, bed heads are woven in hemp rope by local craftsmen and Santanyí stone is a defining feature in the design. In the spa, clean lines and natural materials create a tranquil space where guests can relax and unwind. Photography by Pernilla Danielsson & Arturo + Lauren
